About this ordo

This is a proof of concept that indexes the What Does The Prayer Really Say? commentary fromwdtprs.com by liturgical day. Every post stays on Fr. Z’s site; this page shows only the prayer, a short excerpt, and a link to the full post.

How posts are placed on the calendar

  1. Posts are read from wdtprs.com’s public feed: the WDTPRS and PRAYERCAzT categories, plus prayer posts filed elsewhere.
  2. Each title names a liturgical day (“17th Sunday after Pentecost”, “28th Ordinary Sunday”, “Tuesday in Holy Week”). That name is matched against every day in the 1962 calendar (the 2020 USA calendar, generated withDivinum Officium) and the current General Roman Calendar for the USA (computed with romcal).
  3. Markers like “Novus Ordo”, “2002MR”, “Vetus Ordo”, “EF”, or names that exist in only one calendar (“after Pentecost”, “Ordinary Time”) decide which calendar a post belongs to.
  4. On weekdays without their own proper, the Mass repeats the preceding Sunday’s collect, so those days show that Sunday’s commentary.
  5. Where a 2020 addition for the USA replaces the plain 1962 celebration (St. Thomas Aquinas on a Lent weekday, for example), commentary on the replaced day and on the day’s commemorations is still shown.
  6. Posts on the same Latin prayer are linked across both calendars, since many collects moved between the Missals.
