WDTPRS – 2nd Sunday after Pentecost: Holy Love, Holy Fear, Holy NAME

Sancti nominis tui, Domine, timorem pariter et amorem fac nos habere perpetuum: quia numquam tua gubernatione destituis, quos in soliditate tuae dilectionis instituis.

It isn’t really Corpus Christi in the traditional Roman calendar, though it is often transferred to this Sunday. It is really the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost. Corpus Christi was the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. So that today’s prayers for Mass be not wholly forgotten because of “external celebration” of Corpus Christi (they can be picked up during the week on…

Corpus Christi: I affirm my subjugation to Christ vanquisher of hell and my sins.

Deus, qui nobis sub sacramento mirabili passionis tuae memoriam reliquisti, tribue, quaesumus, ita nos Corporis et Sanguinis tui sacra mysteria venerari, ut redemptionis tuae fructum in nobis iugiter sentiamus.
Literal rendering

O God, who bequeathed to us under a wondrous sacrament the memorial of Your Passion, grant to us, we implore, to venerate the sacred mysteries of Your Body and Blood in such a way that we constantly sense within us the fruit of Your redemption.

In the traditional Roman calendar for the 1962 Missale Romanum yesterday, Thursday, was the Feast of Corpus Domini, or Corpus Christi. In the post-Conciliar Missal’s calendar today is also Corpus Christi. In the Novus Ordo – Vetus too, with “external celebration” – many people will observe Corpus Christi on Sunday, which ensures that more people will participate.

WDTPRS: Corpus Christi – Post Communion – using God

Fac nos, quaesumus, Domine, divinitatis tuae sempiterna fruitione repleri, quam pretiosi Corporis et Sanguinis tui temporalis perceptio praefigurat.

The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord, or Corpus Christi, Corpus Domini in some places, actually falls on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, not on Sunday. It is supposed to correspond to the Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday. In the 1975 Missale Romanum, after the texts for the Mass, there is a note that…

WDTPRS: Corpus Christi – Super Oblata – Eucharist: sign of unity, flashpoint of discord

Ecclesiae tuae, quaesumus, Domine, unitatis et pacis propitius dona concede, quae sub oblatis muneribus mystice designantur.

The Roman calendar observes Corpus Christi today. In another place I drilled into the Collect. Let’s look at the Super Oblata, or “Prayer over the gifts”, in the new, corrected translation called the “Prayer over the offerings”. LAME-DUCK ICEL (1973): Lord, may the bread and cup we offer bring your Church the unity and peace they signify.

WDTPRS: The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Corpus Christi

EM (2002MR): Fac nos, quaesumus, Domine, divinitatis tuae sempiterna fruitione repleri, quam pretiosi Corporis et Sanguinis tui temporalis perceptio praefigurat.
Literal rendering

O God, who bequeathed to us under a wondrous sacrament the memorial of Your Passion, we implore, grant us to venerate the sacred mysteries of Your Body and Blood in such a way that we constantly sense within us the fruit of Your redemption.

I put together three WDTPRS articles I wrote about the prayers for the Feast of Corpus Christi. It is longish but there may be some useful bits. What Does the Prayer Really Say? The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Corpus Christi) The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord, or Corpus Christi, celebrates…
